Dupont, Indiana was platted in 1849 by a gentleman named James Tilton. The town was named after the famous Du Pont family. Morgan’s Raiders visited the town during their famous Civil War Raid in 1863.
Dupont, Indiana is located along Indiana State Road 7, about fourteen miles northwest of Madison, Indiana. It is near Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, but has no access to the Area. It is also close to Miller Lake, in northern Jefferson County.
